“The fire that gave birth to a city”. First part: Lectures by Aristotelis Mentzos, Professor of the Department of History and Archaeology in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and by Aleka Karadimou-Gerolympou, Professor Emerita of the Faculty of Engineering in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Second part: The documentary film “Thessaloniki 1917 – The fire that gave birth to a city”, created by the director Gregoris Vardarinos, will be shown. The documentary film is a co-production of the le plus petit chef and of the COSMOTE TV, with the kind support of the Thessaloniki International Fair-HELEXPO and of the Thessaloniki Port Authority. Dr. Agathoniki Tsilipakou, Director of the Museum of Byzantine Culture, will present and coordinate the event. This is a parallel event of the temporary exhibition “Into the Vortex of the Great War: Thessaloniki of the Armée d’ Orient (1915-1918)”.Entrance free.
