The Museum of Byzantine Culture has been running educational programmes since 1998. Their basic aim, by planning and implementing educational activities, is to enhance the communication between the Museum and its public.

These activities are addressed to schoolchildren, people with disabilities, and adults.

Educational programmes in the Museum of Byzantine Culture owe a great deal to the financial support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation. Thanks to this grant the Department of Educational Programmes was equipped, the Museum's library was supplied with historical and archaeological books addressed to children and an open-air pottery workshop was created.

The policy of the museum's educational programmes is to aproach more groups of people, to keep abreast of new trends in museum education, to publicise its activities, and essentially to foster dialogue among services with related concerns.

To this end, and with the A. G. Leventis Foundation's financial support, we organise seminars about the 'teachers' files', training seminars of more general interest, and scientific meetings on topics relating to museum education. The educational programmes also take part in events organised by the Ministry of Culture and other bodies, as also congresses, conferences, and training seminars.
