A hybrid international conference, titled “The Ottoman Hammams in Greece and the Balkans” is organized by the Department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Museum of Byzantine Culture of Thessaloniki.

The conference is dedicated to Ottoman hammams in Greece and the Balkans, examining their architecture, history, decoration, use, restoration and contemporary recognition as important monuments of cultural heritage.

The organizing committee includes Paschalis Androudis (associate professor of Byzantine and Islamic Art and Archaeology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Eleni Kanetaki (PhD in architectural engineering, associate professor at the University of West Attica), Dimitris Loupis (historian-Ottomanologist, Foundation for the Studies of the Balkans), and Filiz Yenişehirlioğlu (professor of Archaeology and History of Art, Koç University of Istanbul, and director of VEKAM).
