The Hellenic Association for American Studies (HELAAS) organizes the 2nd HELAAS Young Scholar Symposium, with the view to promoting the scholarly and professional development of young scholars interested in American Studies. The symposium brings together postgraduate students, Ph.D. candidates, as well as early-career researchers, from Greece and abroad, whose current research and/or art projects explore the concept and experience of “Conflict and Negotiation” in American and/or American-inflected cultural contexts. The program of the symposium features interdisciplinary panels focusing on a variety of fields where culture is currently contested and negotiated; fields such as literature, film, theater, the new media, or postmodern topoi and discourses. Additionally, participants will benefit from seminars and workshops centered on issues concerning professional aspects of a scholar’s career, such as syllabus design and thesis publication.
