Bookbinding Workshop with the Elderly Care Centers (KAPI) of the Municipality of Thessaloniki

On Thursday, May 29th, 2025, the Department of Communication and Visitor Services and the Department of Collections and Exhibitions of the Museum of Byzantine Culture, in collaboration with the 4th and 14th branches of the Open Care Centers for the Elderly (KAPI) of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, organized a creative bookbinding workshop for senior citizens, led by the Museum’s paper and book conservator, Dr. G. Boudalis.

Fifteen members from the KAPI of the Municipality of Thessaloniki took part in the activity. The participants were first given a guided tour of the Museum’s galleries, where archaeologist Dr. A. Antonaras introduced them to the manuscripts on display. Afterwards, they created their own handmade notebooks in the Museum’s educational programs area.

The participants expressed great enthusiasm for their involvement in the creative workshop.
