Under the influence of the danger and a doubt like that of Hamlet\u2019s, contemporary artists produce works, which are often characterized by a defensive, ironic mood.\r\n\r\nThe main program of the 3rd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art draws inspiration from the city as a metaphor of its past intense multicultural character. Every one of the sites that will host the exhibitions of the main program (5 historical monuments and 5 museums) constitutes an episode from the overall narrative. These episodes are inspired by the past and current use of these buildings, their old and modern contribution to the social life and the political conflicts of the city, while the artists and the works hosted were specially selected for them.\r\n\r\nThus, the visitor of the exhibition will walk through the city and at the same time will learn its history and become part of its life\". 3rd
