Initially collected by an anonymous German soldier, the photographs were later purchased by the collector Byron Metos, who bought the part of the collection related to Greece.\r\n\r\n<iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GmPupBXLA3M\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\r\n\r\nAiming to reveal the power of propaganda, as reflected in both official and amateur photographic production of the Third Reich, the exhibition seeks to shed light on unknown aspects of the city\u2019s history, as the German occupation is still an unexplored period. Featuring original photographs and film, reproductions and digital screenings, the exhibition seeks to reconsider photographs which, until recently, were dismissed as historical documents on the basis of their recording the \u201cgaze of the German conquerors\u201d but also of their \u00a0being of amateur, and therefore of marginal character.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"page-title\">\r\n<div class=\"page-headline\">\r\n<div>\r\n<h4>Info<\/h4>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row bottom-margin-small\">\r\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 overflow-hidden\">\r\n<div class=\"wow fadeIn animated\">\r\n\r\nIn the frame of the exhibition an international conference will be held on April 8th 2016, which will explore aspects of the photographic production in occupied Thessaloniki. Both the catalog that accompanies the exhibition and the conference are realized with the support of the\u00a0<strong>Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Thessaloniki<\/strong>\u00a0(with the help of the Greek-German Fund for the Future) and of the\u00a0<strong>Association of Friends of the Museum of Byzantine Culture<\/strong>.\r\n\r\n<strong>A music event will be held at the opening<\/strong>. Featuring: Nonna Kyriazopoulou (soprano), Alexandra Melachrinou (soprano), students at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki (class of Eni Kini).\r\nOn the piano the distinguished pianist and educator Ioanna Evang.
